In the years 1868-1889 the basic cut of the skirt was the same- much of the difference in the silhouette was achieved by the petticoats, and bustling worn, and the skirt trim favored in each era. These years would cover 3 basic styles- the early bustle (1868-1875), the natural form(1876-1881), and the late bustle(1881-1889).
This pattern is 42" long finished length when hemmed with the bias hem.
If you wish to use a normal hem instead of the bias, then you will need to lengthen the skirt to allow for the desired hem.
Waist measures 24-48
Hip measures 34-54
Fabric needed 45" wide:
Fashion fabric: suitable fabrics listed above
walking length 4 1/2 yards Trained skirt: 5 yards PLUS yardage for desired ruffles (see ruffle chart to figure this length.) The wide ruffle will need approximately 2 yards additional fabric
