Cowgirls from a show 1909
Turn of the century cowboy girl outfit
The Challenge: Stashbusting #3
Fabric: Cotton corded twill, cotton striped shirting fabric
Stashed for how long?: 15 yrs for the twill for divided skirt, probably about 10 on the shirt fabric
Pattern: My own draft based on turn of the century pattern and an original shirt in my collection
Year:1900-1910
Notions: Pewter buttons from the stash
How historically accurate is it? I'd say its maybe 85% accurate. I haven't found an example of a cowgirl from this time frame in a striped shirt- but the original I have is polka dot, and men did wear the stripes. The fabric is 100% cotton and machine stitching was prevalent even with the finishing
Hours to complete: About 14
First worn: March 31st, for photos
Total cost: OH its been so long ago I bought these fabrics, but I THINK I paid about $2 a yard so 3 yds of twill and not quite 3 in the shirting, plus some large pewter buttons I bought in bulk some 15 years back I think were like 25 cents a piece - less than $20 in the outfit. (if you don't count her new boots and my made by Grizz hat.)
